Jonathan Robinson has extensive experience gathered from over 10 years in the field of domain names and related brand protection issues on the Internet.
He is the founder of IPRota Ltd, a private company based in London, UK. IP Rota is dedicated to providing Top-Level Domain (TLD) operators with support in the design and operation of their launch programs, with a special emphasis upon rights protection mechanisms. IP Rota is currently working with ICM Registry as its validation and systems partner in the administration and execution of its forthcoming Sunrise Program for the launch of their sponsored Top Level Domain (.xxx). The planned Sunrise Program for .xxx contains innovative and attractive initial rights protection mechanisms and it has received very positive feedback from intellectual property professionals.
Prior to IP Rota, Jonathan co-founded London listed Group NBT plc and was Chief Operating Officer of the Group and a main board director until June 2009. Group NBT is an ICANN accredited registrar with a very successful brand protection business including corporate domain name management specialist NetNames and brand protection specialist Envisional.
He is currently a non-executive director of domain name registry operator Afilias Limited. He is also an elected councillor, representing the Registry Stakeholder Group, on ICANN’s Generic Names Supporting Organisation.
Since leaving Group NBT, Jonathan has been involved in a number of entrepreneurial activities and IP Rota represents an excellent opportunity to combine his passion for entrepreneurial activity and product development with his experience in the area of brand protection on the Internet.
