New gTLD Reveal Day Set to 30 April
Yesterday ICANN announced 30 April as the new date to release its list of applicants and applied for gTLDs. ICANN CEO Rod Beckstrom noted that this date may be postponed if ICANN receives an overwhelming number of applications. ICANN's new gTLD schedule allows for 500 applications without delay to the process.
Currently only a preliminary number of TAS registrations is know to the public. As of 25 March, 839 users are registered with ICANN. Each registrant may apply for up to 49 New gTLDs. The domain industry experts expect between 1000 - 1500 applications, surely a substantial number but not overwhelming.
Previously ICANN announced 1 May as reveal day in the calendar of upcoming events.
